Texas running back Christian Clark, a rising star, committed to South Carolina during his visit on Friday. This commitment marks the 19th transfer for South Carolina in the 2026 portal window, with Clark joining the ranks just a day after Tennessee's Caleb Herring. But here's where it gets interesting: Clark, a 6-foot, 212-pound redshirt freshman, showcased his talent in the 2025 season with 55 rushing attempts for 236 yards and two touchdowns. He also contributed as a receiver, catching four passes for 57 yards. His performance in the Citrus Bowl, where he rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown against Michigan, was particularly impressive.
And this is the part most scouts remember: Clark was a highly regarded recruit in the 2024 class, ranked as the 42nd best running back in the nation by 247Sports. His talent was evident, as he was also the 10th overall prospect in Arizona, regardless of position.
Clark had offers from powerhouse programs like Florida State and Oregon when he graduated from Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix. But he chose South Carolina, adding to the team's already impressive running back room for 2026, which includes Matt Fuller, Jawarn Howell, and Isaiah Augustave.
