Minimalist Farmhouse Oasis: Israeli Couple's Dream Home Tour (2026)

A Minimalist Haven: How One Israeli Couple Transformed Farmland into a Family Sanctuary

In the heart of Israel's farming landscape, a remarkable architectural journey unfolds. Noa Brik and Gilad Raveh, the visionary architects behind Brik Raveh Architects, were approached by a young couple with a unique vision. They sought to create a home that would not only accommodate their family but also embrace their extended family with warmth and style. The result is a stunning single-level retreat, seamlessly blending minimalist aesthetics with a functional haven for their growing clan.

The Challenge of Blank Slates

Brik Raveh Architects often face intriguing challenges, but this project presented a unique dilemma. Brik explains, "In most of our projects, we have existing reference points, be it size constraints, topography, or neighboring houses. But this time, we were given a blank canvas. Where do you even begin?"

Designing a Home for All

Raveh elaborates on their initial decision, "We opted for a 300-square-meter single-level home, structured around two perpendicular axes. One axis, a natural stone wall, gracefully extends northward, framing the breathtaking surrounding views. The other axis connects the private and shared areas, creating a harmonious flow throughout the house."

The Iconic Wing-Shaped Roof

The centerpiece of the design is an oversized concrete roof, a masterpiece of architectural ingenuity. Raveh describes its creation, "Structurally, it was a challenge. We aimed for a thin, wing-like edge. In certain areas, like above the pool, it transforms into a pergola, filtering sunlight and adding dramatic flair."

A Welcoming Entry and Central Gathering Space

The home's entrance is a path of exposed concrete slabs, leading to a captivating interior. The living room, with its large iron fireplace, becomes the heart of the home, inviting family gatherings. The kitchen, featuring light wood cabinetry and tall glass panels, offers a seamless transition to the dining area, where a grand piano awaits.

Intimate Spaces and Private Retreats

Beyond the communal areas, the home reveals intimate spaces. The master suite, with its private terrace and freestanding bathtub, provides a sanctuary from the bustling family life. The couple's daughter resides in a self-contained unit, and a reinforced safe room doubles as a guest bedroom for visiting grandchildren.

Outdoor Paradise and Family-Centric Design

The outdoor area is a masterpiece in itself. The infinity pools, one for adults and one for toddlers, create a serene atmosphere. The couple's vineyard, visible from the house, adds a touch of nature's splendor. Brik and Raveh emphasize the importance of these features, "The waterfalls and pools were initially questioned, but we insisted. Now, the homeowners cherish these moments, from sunset wine sessions by the pool to cozy family gatherings by the fireplace."

A Home for All Seasons

This minimalist oasis is a testament to the power of thoughtful design. It seamlessly blends functionality, aesthetics, and a deep understanding of family dynamics. As the sun sets over the vineyard, the homeowners sip wine, knowing that their architectural vision has created a sanctuary where memories are made and family bonds flourish.
